Our rough, unmixed demo version of Dreamworld is now up for download. Work on the album is slow, but it'll be out some day, God-willing.

2/Feb/2007

We have added a rough, unmixed demo version of Dreamworld to our MySpace page. We have taken down the other tracks that were there. In other news, we lost all of our work on the site redesign, as well as all lyrical work in progress, so songwriting is starting over from scratch again on the songs that were never recorded to demo yet. This might have been a good thing, but it still stings.

8/Dec/2006

We have added the song With Open Arms to the Music page for download. This track was previously exclusive to those who purchased our demo CD. Nothing else new to report. Remember that we will be having very infrequent updates as work towards the eventual album release is pretty uneventful. And don't forget, you can sign up for our mailing list by emailing list@rivironline.com and request you be added.

4/Nov/2006

As mentioned before, we would only be posting progress reports. So here is the first one for you. Basically, things are moving very slowly. Lots of life is getting in the way of RIVIR. That said, several new songs have been written, a few composed, and in total, four songs are finalized musically and lyrically. Things are progressing quicker when ideas are done on hardware and only the actual composition is done in software. Composing songs with hardware is more tedious, and less forgiving. We are excited to be using exclusively the Linux operating system to create this album from start to finish. As one final update, the website will undergo a complete redesign when the album approaches maturity. Remember, you can sign up for our mailing list by emailing list@rivironline.com and request you be added.

Thanks to both Rich7 and Zymotic for picking up our demo disc. We sincerely appreciate it! Speaking of The Demo CD, the last day that it will be on sale is Friday, August 4th, until 11:59PM Eastern time. We always said it was for a limited time only, and as we get closer to our full album release, we want some time in between now and then with no material for sale. There will likely be no new MP3 or Ogg file releases, as well as news updates, except perhaps some progress reports. If you wish to be added to the RIVIR mailing list to be informed when the album is released, please email list@rivironline.com and request you be added. We will not be spamming you, so don't worry. You'll be lucky if you get more than a half dozen emails in a year from us. You may also get a sneak peak at the album before anyone else by being on our mailing list. But then again, maybe not.

17/Mar/2006

We have updated the Studio page, so go check out the new pictures of our gear! We also stumbled upon the two oldest RIVIR recordings, from before we had a name for ourselves. These two songs, Backwards Steps and Degradation, pre-date even Sands of Time! We have made them available for download, so go and get them on the Music page. Be warned that they are very amateur tracks, and are only here for interest of our true fans. Also, we would like to thank Dan Lawrence for purchasing The Demo CD! You are fan number FOUR!

20/Feb/2006

I have been busy packaging various music software for the next release of Ubuntu Linux, so I haven't written any new music. But you can now go and listen to With Open Arms at our MySpace profile! Also, I have made downloads for One-Eighty and The Everlasting now. Grab them on the Music page. One-Eighty was previously only available on The Demo CD which flopped.

4/Feb/2006

I have started up a website called The Ubuntu Studio Project. If you are interested in setting up a totally 100% free digital music studio on Ubuntu Linux, you should check it out! Also, just a reminder: if our Demo CD doesn't sell very well, we probably won't bother releasing an album. To give you an update, in the past month we have sold zero copies.

12/Jan/2006

We have completed another track, Originem. It is for fans of experimental chaotic noise. You can get it on the Music page, or if you just want to listen, head on over to our MySpace page. If you haven't got your copy of our CD yet (and chances are, you haven't), you can get the hard copy here, or the electronic version from Christianradio.me.uk. We are going to see how well this 6-song demo sells, and if it doesn't do very well, we may not bother with an album. So far, we have only sold three copies, so it's not looking good.

5/Jan/2006

We have completed another track, The Everlasting. It is dedicated to Peter Kompanje, Naomi Huff, and Peter Huff. Head on over to our MySpace page if you would like to hear it. If you would like to download it or With Open Arms, send us the CafePress order number for your purchase of our Demo CD, and we will email you a download link. If you haven't yet bought the Demo, you can get it here.

19/Dec/2005

We have completed another track, With Open Arms. If you wish to download it, send your CafePress order number for your purchase of our Demo CD to promo@rivironline.com, and we will email you a link to download the new track. If you haven't yet bought the Demo, you can get it here. We also added information for a lot of our songs, so if you want to see the real rough notes for each track, you can check most of them out. Go to the Music page!

9/Dec/2005

The Happy Birthday Jesus compilation has been released! You can download it from Christianradio.me.uk, or you can buy it on CD at CafePress for $4.99. While you're there, grab your copy of The Demo as well! In other news, we have been working on a new track called With Open Arms, and a rough demo version has been completed.

3/Dec/2005

We have completed our track for the Happy Birthday Jesus compilation that will be released by Aaron Cavanaugh of Christianradio.me.uk this Christmas season. The compilation will also be available for purchase (at cost) from CafePress. Don't forget to purchase The Demo at CafePress for only $6.99! Work on the final version of Reflection has begun, and will appear on our full-length album. In other news, Dana has lost his job, and is currently looking for work in the areas of VoIP, Linux, networking, and/or telecommunications.

17/Nov/2005

We have brought a store online via CafePress! You can now purchase The Demo, a 6-song disc including a new track, One-Eighty. Click here to go directly to The Demo at our store. Any proceeds that we get for this disc or any other merchandise (t-shirts, etc) will go back into the band toward new gear. Thanks for your support!

11/Nov/2005

Just in time for Remembrance Day, we have released the final version of Mortify (new wave) for your listening displeasure! Go grab it on the Music page, our MySpace page, or our SoundClick page!

24/Oct/2005

Just a small update to tell you that although I have been having weird pains and aches lately, I am still working on some music. We're hoping to have a Christmas song done before December 1st, so keep a look out for that. There are now a few pictures of RIVIR added to the site, so you can see what we look like. We also updated the links page. Be sure to check out my buddy Austin's band le pre noir if you like electronic music!

7/Oct/2005

Alright, new studio pics are up! Also, our gear list has been updated to reflect the newest additions to our repetoire, the Mountain Ocarinas (both C and G models). On top of that, we have added a new track, called Born. It is a cover of Over the Rhine, and it's one of the best songs we've ever heard. This track features Sarah singing, so for all of her fans, this should be a real nice treat for you. More goodies are up our sleeves, so stay tuned!

22/Sep/2005

I haven't finished the new wave Mortify track yet, but we did create a brand new track. It's an acoustic song, so it might not be what some of our fans (hey, it could happen) are accustomed to. Enjoy the new track, called Psalm 117, featuring Sarah on vocals and the new Applause AE128 guitar. Also, please stay close to this site - I do plan on updating some portions of it shortly, including updated studio pics (much has changed).

26/Aug/2005

There are no new tracks this time, but we do, however, have some new gear. We just got in a new Applause AE128 acoustic-electric guitar, a Hohner No. 34b Old Standby harmonica, as well as a new MCA SP1 condenser microphone. While the acoustic guitar and harmonica will have very limited use within RIVIR, they are still exciting additions to our arsenal of instruments. We are working on some new material as well, including the new wave version of Mortify.

3/Jul/2005

Go to the downloads page and get our newest track, False Heart Flutter. Sorry it took so long to get something new here, but we made a stupid mistake and ended up wiping out both of our hard drives. Luckily we had a backup of all of the released material, but nothing else survived, and it took a while to get the system back up to full power. Also, we are back to using Debian, as Ubuntu just could not cut it.

15/May/2005

As promised, we are proud to present to you, our latest and greatest, Worldtrap. Enjoy. Or don't. And in other news, we got a new Roland V-Drums TD-3KV kit, and it rocks! We'll be working on more new stuff shortly, especially now that we have working drums. The studio page will be updated shortly with the new layout.

30/Apr/2005

Alrighty. If you've listened to our music, you know that we've basically progressed towards a more industrial/electronic sound. This is definitely the direction we want to take, and was the intention from day one. However, there were a few distractions, and from that, you've got Seven, Mortify, and Again, as well as some currently unreleased metal/hardcore material. We don't want to limit ourselves to a single genre, because we can appreciate many different styles, and we enjoy many of them equally. Don't get me wrong, electronic music is where it's at, and is definitely at the top of the list, but the question we want to ask is this: do you mind if we experiment with other styles, or do you want to see a single set path for us to go down? Take the poll and have your say with regards to us doing an Emo song or two, and if you have more opinions, go spout off in our guestbook. We look forward to hearing from you! Oh yeah, and a new song will be up soon - music is about 80% done, lyrics are falling in place, all that's left is to record the vocals and guitars and do a final mix. We promise, you will have at least one new track from RIVIR by the end of next month!

23/Apr/2005

We've been promising new music for months and months, and finally, we've added a new song called End of the Age. Go grab it in MP3 or Ogg format at the Downloads page! The lyrics page has also been updated. More to come!

15/Apr/2005

We've added ourselves to Myspace.com and you can get to our site there in the Links section. Also, for some reason, sometimes when you hit the main page here, our logo and stuff doesn't show up properly. I don't know why it does that, but if you hit refresh, it all comes up.. If anyone has any ideas, please email me.

3/Apr/2005

Wow! Another update already? It can't be! But it is... We have now uploaded a new version of Seven and a new version of our cover of Zao's 5 Year Winter. The only real major changes here are the vocals. They still suck, but they aren't whispers anymore, which is a good thing. Also, some Ogg files have appeared on the downloads page, and soon each available title will be in both formats. Also, we have registered the domain name RIVIRONLINE.COM because someone already took RIVIR.COM and RIVIR.NET. You can stop typing in RIVIR.TK now and use something more normal.

2/Apr/2005

Alright, finally, after all this time, we have released Mortify for your listening displeasure! Go get it on the downloads page. I've updated the gear listing that we use on the About page. We have also added a Links page, as well as we've cleaned up this front page, as you've likely noticed. You can still read the history of news by visiting the news archives. Stay tuned for some more stuff too, including improved versions of some other songs. We're also going to be adding Ogg files of all of our tracks for those of you who prefer a superior file format.

8/Mar/2005

We're still around, just haven't recorded anything new lately. Well, we have, but only bits and pieces. See, our DD-55 doesn't seem to be working properly right now, so until I can get some kind of percussion stuff going here, I have no motivation to write. Our financial situation is pretty bad right now, so if that improves, we'll look at getting something to replace the DD-55. Until then, there may not be many updates. Hang in there though, because I still have some mixing to do on a track or two that are already recorded. I'll try and find some time soon to work on finalizing them.

25/Jan/2005

Well, I should really be headed to bed right now, as I have to work in 5 hours. In any case, I stayed up recording a cover of Dive by Nirvana. It's one of my favorite songs by them, and I've always wanted to record this. The quality is crap, but I'll maybe work on it. My vocals are crap as always. In other news, I have another song that I'm working on and will finish, called The Yes Man and the Berean. The music is that from So Perfect, but will be changed a bit. Also I have done some preliminary recording on a reworking of Reflection. Portions of many other songs also have been recorded, and will someday blossom into full songs. Until next time.

22/Jan/2005

It's the new year, and RIVIR just gained nearly a grand of gear from Christmas time and from old gear that was sold. For a full tour of our studio, dubbed Purple Nurple Studios, check out the Studio link from the top menu! We promise, new material is coming. I start a new job on Monday, with more regular hours, so I should have more time to focus on recording. If you play Xbox games and have a headset, and you'd like to play some Ghost Recon 2 with me on XLink Kai, feel free to add me to your list (my tag is [H8D]Zorkon) and send me a message.

14/Dec/2004

Alright, so we've sold the Zoom 505II guitar pedal, as well as the BOSS DM-3 guitar pedal, and the Yamaha Hundred B212 guitar amp. The new equipment that will be replacing these is the Line 6 POD 2.0 Guitar Amp Modeler and Effects Processor, and the Yamaha RM1x Sequence Remixer. Expect some exciting new material shortly after these arrive, and possibly we will even remake some or all of our old material for increased sound quality and clarity.

8/Dec/2004

A lot of changes have been happening with RIVIR. We're going to be getting some new gear in, as well as simplifying our effects setup. We're considering using little to no vocal augmentations going forth, but this may change. It seems we can't make up our mind if we wanna do lite industrial, metal, or hardcore. So, I think we'll stick to doing whatever we feel like at the time. More new stuff will be released when we have time for it - Christmas is around the corner, so don't expect anything too soon. If I have time to work on it, I'd like to finish my cover of Skinny Puppy's Smothered Hope, and release that next.

6/Sep/2004

Lyrics to one of the new tracks have been added to the site. The song is called "Mortify" and should be up shortly, at least a demo version. In other news, yet another new song has been mostly recorded. All that remains to do are lyrics and vocals, and the track will be released. If I have time in the next while, I will do it, but I do need to start packing up soon.

1/Sep/2004

Well, still no new downloadable songs, but hey, yet another new song is in the works, tentatively called "Darkness of the Night." If you're a fan of Iron Maiden or early Saviour Machine, you might actually like it. Also, we're moving at the end of October, so things might not progress until mid-November, but at that point, some things will be redone, and many new things will be possible.

22/Aug/2004

I haven't been happy with the current mixes of the new tracks, so they're not up yet. However, a new mix of Seven is up with re-done bass and drums. The drums aren't perfect, as none of my music is, but they are live this time around, and not programmed in. As you may know, at the time I recorded Seven the first time, I didn't have any way to record my live drumming inabilities.

9/Jul/2004

While we still have not completed the final mix of Reflection, we have good reason for it. Yet another new track is in the works. Currently all of the music is done being recorded, and if there needs to be a genre on it, it's gonna be "metal." The lyrics are nearly complete, just a few minor adjustments, and we're all set. The mixing, levels, and recording process went by much, much easier and faster this time around, so far, thanks largely to the new mixing console. This new track currently has no title. Also, just a gentle reminder that we do have a guestbook, so please, feel free to drop us a line or two.

3/Jul/2004

So we got a new mixer, and voila! A rough mix version of Reflection is now available for your listening displeasure. Get it at the downloads section of this site.

2/Jul/2004

Sorry about the delay. We're having problems with the vocal levels this time around, but it should be done shortly. The new song's lyrics are up, and the title is announced to be "Reflection." The other new song's music has been largely completed, and will require lyrics and vocals. This will have to wait for a while, as we want to focus on finishing Reflection, as well as hashing out the parts to a third new track, titled "In Loving Memory." Stay tuned, and as soon as something is up, I will post another news update.

21/May/2004

So I finally butchered the old Proletariat design and made this site for my own band out of it's ashes. All the old stuff is here; MP3s, lyrics, and wallpapers. Check it out, and sound off in our guestbook!

4/May/2004

RIVIR is taking a new direction... The direction it was meant to go in the first place. A new track will be ready very soon, and you'll see the difference between it and the old stuff. In fact, we have two tracks that are nearly ready, and are at least demo quality at the moment. You can email us if you would like to check it out ASAP instead of waiting for release. The site will undergo maintenance shortly as well, as I will salvage what's left of the old Proletariat design, now that they have broken up.
