I just added a new cover. This is a song that I've only recently heard and immediately fell in love with - Summer of Rage by Shooter Jennings & Hierophant. I hope my version does the song justice. If you'd like to hear the original, it's available on YouTube. My cover is available on our music downloads page.

If there are any Wolfmother fans out there, I just posted a cover of their song, White Unicorn. It's not perfect, and I did it just for fun because I figured out the song by accident while just playing around on the guitar, so I figured why not? You can get it on the music downloads page.

Here's a YouTube video of us playing one of our new songs. The CD version has more guitars, drums, and bass.

We have uploaded a rough mix of our new track, Insomniac, to our MySpace page. Check it out if you'd like to hear it. It sounds decidedly low-fi on MySpace compared to the CD version, but it'll give you an idea of our new direction. Sarah did not record the vocal track yet, so you are stuck with my screeching.

Happy new year!

RIVIR is finally back to writing new material! Not only has some new gear arrived, but three new demos have been recorded since Christmas. There aren't lyrics yet, and I don't plan to share these at this time. I am pretty excited about the material, because it's exactly what I've wanted to write all my life - just basic rock and roll, real drums, real guitar, nothing fancy - not even any solos. I need to write some lyrics and figure out who will be singing, because Sarah isn't sure if she can do these tracks, but at the same time, I don't know how to sing. This could be interesting... Stay tuned. I plan to whip this site into shape soon, to make it easier for me to update.

Not a lot has been happening with RIVIR recently, as we underwent a move and are trying to settle in. New gear has been ordered and the direction of the project will change. We will focus on pretty basic metal now, hopefully with new demo tracks in the nearish future. Rearranging of existing songs to fit the guitar + bass + drums format will take a bit of time and thought. Also, our main guitar gear, the Line 6 POD 2.0 has died. Until it is replaced with something better, no tracks will be recorded. When we have funds, we will hopefully add a Digitech RP355 to our arsenal.

Nothing new to report as of yet; we're still working on writing new songs. This news update is mostly to wish our buddy, Lyteside, a happy birthday!

We recently got some new hardware to record our album. Whenever we get time to figure it all out and start laying down tracks, we'll post an update. For now, back to the manual.
